Ceramic societies with websites and publications

This listing of useful organizations for ceramic enthusiasts is provided as a convenience for SFCC members ( and other ceramic enthusiasts ) who want to periodically supplement the SFCC program of lectures with additional information about various aspects of ceramics.

The following ceramic organizations are local, national or international in scope and many periodically publish newsletters and/or journals of interest. Some hold regular and/or annual meetings. All charge annual dues. More details are available on their web sites

The Northern Ceramic Society (England). Web site
Issues four newsletters annually and an annual journal focussing mainly on British Ceramics. Organizes meetings around G.B. and an annual Summer School at extra cost.

The Wedgwood Society of New York ( USA ). Web site
Holds monthly meetings in NYC. Issues brief monthly newsletters including a synopsis of their meetings and publishes their journal "Ars Ceramica" annually. The WSNY holds auctions among members in NYC. Main focus is Wedgwood from the beginning to modern times.

Friends of Blue ( England ) Web site
The focus is on blue transfer printed British pottery. Issues a quarterly bulletin. Annually organizes one major meeting at extra cost.

The French Porcelain Society ( England ). Web site
Main focus is on French porcelain. It has produced publications on a variety of topics. It also has resource listings on the web.

The Transferware Collectors Club ( USA and England ). Web site
Main focus on printed pottery and porcelain. Annual meeting at cities in USA and England at extra cost. Members only access to a bulletin archive, transferware pattern database and classified ads.

American Ceramic Circle (USA). Web site
Membership applications are due before September. Interest is on Ceramics of all countries and periods. Issues Spring and Fall newsletters and publishes a Journal annually. Holds an annual conference at extra cost in November rotating among major cities with ceramic collections and occasional special events..

English Ceramic Circle ( England ). Web site
Primary focus on British ceramics. Holds monthly meetings and occasional special events in the UK (London) Publishes proceedings annually with many back issues still available.

The Spode Society ( England ). Web site
Specifically interested in the products and history of Spode and Copeland .

The Derby International Porcelain Society ( England ). Web site
Specifically interested in the products and history of Derby porcelain and other Derbyshire ceramics.

The Northern California Doulton Collectors' club. Web site
Main focus on Doulton character jugs, Toby jugs, figurines, character figures, flambe, Kingsware, series ware, Bunnykins, etc. (Royal Doulton collectibles). 4 Newsletters and club meetings yearly ( 2 open to the public ) and an annual sale.

The China Students' Club of Boston (USA). Web site
Main focus study, appreciation and understanding of all forms of ceramic art. Publishes newsletter "SHARDS" in PDF format accessed from web site. Holds monthly lecture meetings. Guests are welcome at all meetings.

The Connecticut Ceramic Study Circle (USA). Web site
Main focus study, appreciation and understanding of all forms of ceramic art. Holds monthly lecture meetings with program posted on their web site. Visitors $15 per lecture.

The Caughley Society ( England ). Web site
Main focus is on Caughley Porcelain. Publishes four news letters annually.

Friends of Doccia ( Italy ). Web site ( English Link )
Focus on Doccia ( Ginori ) and related ceramics. Publishes a Journal. Organises occasional meetings and field trips
