Worcester Blue and White: Many Shapes and Sizes

About the talk: On 4th June 1751 fifteen Worcester businessmen led by Dr. John Wall founded the Worcester porcelain manufactory and on 21 February 1752 acquired the Bristol porcelain manufactory of Benjamin Lund to have access to the better soapstone porcelain body which was used at Worcester for the rest of the 18th century. This talk will discuss all the many different shapes and sizes, ranging from small buttons to large vases, that the factory produced during the first period between 1752 and 1778.
About the speaker: Bambi and Ed Schwartz have been collecting First Period blue and white Worcester porcelain since 1972 beginning during the first of many expeditions to England . Ed was one of the early members of the San Francisco Ceramic Circle, served as a board member for many years and was its president during the 1980s. He has lectured on the Worcester porcelain and has written many essays on the Worcester factory and its founder, Dr. John Wall. He also is a member of the English Ceramic Circle .
