About the lecture:

From the red-hot fires and smoky atmosphere of the Sraffordshire potteries came fine white stoneware fit for the tables of England's greatest houses. This lecture will share the story of the transformation of a country craft into an industry that dominated the Western world in the 18th century. It will discuss the skill and artistrythat made salt-glazed stoneware an aesthetic and commercial success.
