The Cambrian Pottery, Swansea
Jonathan Grey
Researcher, West Wickham, England
The Sunday, October 30th meeting of the San Francisco Ceramic
Circle will be held in the Florence Gould Theater at the Palace
of the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park, San Francisco. Enter by
the main entrance from 9.30am. The lecture will start at 10.00am.
About the lecture:
The Cambrian Pottery, Swansea, was established in 1764. During
its 104 year history, various partners made a range of saltglaze,
creamware, pearlware, dry bodied stonewares, mocha and printed
wares and, for a short period after the end of the Napoleonic
Wars, fine porcelains. This paper will consider the importance
of Swansea as a trading centre, the people behind the pottery
and the wares produced.
