"
a slide lecture by

on Sunday, 8th June in the Florence Gould Theater at the Palace
of the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park, San Francisco. Entrance
is from the main entrance. The lecture will start at 2.00PM.
About the Lecture: When Chinese porcelains first started trickling
into Europe several centuries after its invention they became
objects of fascination for westerners because of their whiteness,
fine texture, translucency and durability. Europe had nothing
comparable. Over the next two centuries there was an exchange
of cultural influences ... Chinese porcelains led to a revolution
in western ceramics technology and China adapted European shapes
and decoration for their products for the West. This talk will
explore historical and aesthetic aspects of our past.
