"Ming Blue and White Ceramics from
a Philippine Shipwreck Site"

The March meeting of the San Francisco Ceramic Circle will
be held on Thursday, 25th March in the Florence Gould Theater
at the Palace of the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park, San Francisco.
Entrance is from the West terrace from 7.30pm. The lecture will
start at 8.00pm.
Our speaker will be Larry Gotuaco, collector and author. His
lecture is entitled "Ming Blue and White Ceramics from a
Phillipine Shipwreck Site".
The mini-exhibit will be of Oriental ceramics. Set up is at
7.30pm
About the lecture:
This lecture will present highlights of the research by Larry
Gotuaco on ceramics from the middle Ming period of Hongzhi and
Zhengde recovered from a shipwreck site at Busuanga in the Phillipines.
The talk willl cover the many shapes and forms recovered such
as plates, bowls, ewers, covered boxes and other unusual forms
, the variety of decoration and motifs used as well as the sizes,
quantities and quality of the different shapes and forms.
About our speaker:
Larry Gotuaco has collected ceramics for more than 25 years
and has a special interest in the earliest blue and white wares.
He has spoken to many groups on topics including the collection
of Yuan Ceramics, 14th century Blue and White, Yuan and Ming Ceramics
at Topkapi, Yuan Blue and White in the Philippines, and on the
subject of this lecture. Mr. Gotuaco is Co-author of "Chinese
and Vietnamese Blue and White Wares Found in the Philippines"
and is the author of the article "Ming in Busuanga".
He is 3 times past president of the Oriental Ceramic Society of
the Philippines.
