PATRICIAN ANTIQUES : EUROPEAN POTTERY

19th CENTURY

Many centers of pottery manufacture thrived throughout Europe. Germany and its neighbors produced stoneware and many figures.France and Belgium made tablewares. Unusual and individaul designs were also produced in Italy and Poland as well as items in imitation of English wares.

FIGURE, 8 inches high,BOY WITH STAFF standing on a grassy mound. Model #60. Damm made these figures in earthenware from the molds from the defunct Hochst manufactory which originally produced them in porcelain in the 18th century. Loss of unknown object to right side.

Damm made these figures in earthenware from the molds from the defunct Hochst manufactory which originally produced them in porcelain in the 18th century.Almost invisible restoration to hat and neck area. Left arm reattached. Very good appearance. Mark a blue wheel with "D".

COASTER SET, one large, 5-1/2" diameter, two small, 3-1/2" diameter. Transfer printed and colored "Kate Greenaway" style figures. Mounted in copper with the diamond and ostrich mark of the Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik.

Slight abrasion to surface of large coaster.

FIGURAL SPILL VASE , 3"high x 5-1/4"long, in the shape of an old boot with a cat chasing a mouse through the hole in the toe. Terracotta, cold painted. Impressed numbers on sole of boot "387Z & 71". Two chips to rim. Unusual and charming. Similar in execution to the cold painted bronze figures from Austria.
