Small Sauce Tureen & stand, 4-3/4 inches high and 7-1/2 inches long.
Imari design in underglaze blue and over-painted in enamels, the handles as animal faces. Printed mark on all pieces
The printed floral pattern with enamel coloring is pattern number 659 seen in red on the reverse of stand

On this sauce tureen the pattern has the added black
Printed Crest for the "City of London Commercial
Club".
The Commercial Club seems to have been in existence in the first part of the 19th century . It was a dining club for the professional classes of the City of London, merchants, bankers and other gentlemen of known respectability. The Club closed in February of 1843 and the building was either remodelled or rebuilt on the same site by the Gresham Club.
