SQUARE SERVING DISH, "Coursing" from the Hunting Series Staffordshire c.1820 SOLD 9" square,10-1/4" wide over molded handles. A deep vibrant blue, with a parrot border.The scene shows a rural landscape with two riders on horseback hunting hares with two greyhounds. Taken from a print by Howitt 1798, reissued in 1815 by Edward Orme. The two greyhounds were called Czarina and Maria. This dish is from a series of hunting prints printed on dinner wares.
